Ingredients Needed

  • Hot espresso (5 tablespoons)
  • Granulated sugar (4 tablespoons)
  • Cold milk (4 oz)
  • Cold espresso (2 ounces)
  • A handful of ice cubes

You can use any milk in this recipe that you like the most. For example, you may use almond milk, oat milk, cow milk, or other non-dairy alternatives. The sugar stabilizes the foam and provides your coffee substance.

Equipment Needed

  • Hand mixer, hand whisk, or stand mixture
  • A bowl in which you make whipped coffee
  • A tall glass

Recipe of Dalgona Coffee without Instant Coffee

It takes 5-10 minutes to make Dalgona coffee without instant coffee. Let’s learn how you can do it.

1. Mix Coffee and Sugar Together

  • Add hot espresso and sugar into a bowl.
  • Start whisking with the tool of your choice.
  • You can use a hand whisker or electric mixer for this step. An electric mixer makes whisking easy and gives better results than a hand whisker. Make sure you start whisking at a slow speed when mixing sugar and coffee to avoid splashing. Hand mixer takes more time and elbow grease.

2. Check the Mixture’s Consistency

  • Whisk or beat until you get a consistent mix.
  • Check the consistency by lifting the end of the mixer or beater and see how it falls. Stop beating if the coffee falls like thick ribbons of foam.
  • You can also check consistency with a spoon. Scrape the bowl’s bottom with the back of the spoon; the coffee mixture must slide back into the spoon’s track.

3. Add Remaining Ingredients

  • Add ice and cold milk to your coffee mug.
  • You can also add cold espresso instead of milk. It will make your coffee stronger and give you a caffeine jolt.
  • Add a spoonful of whipped coffee to the coffee mug. You can stir it or drink it with its iconic shape.
  • Sprinkle cocoa powder or chocolate chunks as per your taste.
